The Incredible Boks

The Springboks won their final match of the 2009 Tri Nations, and with this win they were crowned the champions. The Boks won the match 32-29 in a tough match with the All Black fighting back in the last 20 minutes. The All Blacks took the early lead through a Dan Carter penalty but the impressive cannon foot of Frans Steyn put the Springboks in front with two massive goal kicks within the first 10 minute. The sides again traded penalties and Morne Steyn added another drop goal to his telly before Fourie Du Preez put up a high ball and with the All Blacks struggling to contain the ball the Boks jumped onto it and Fourie ultimately finished off the move he started scoring the fists try. The score at the break was 22-12 and all looked set for a win for the Boks.

In the second half Jean De Villiers scored one of his trade mark intercept tries with Carter floating a pass wide and into the hand of De Villiers. Sivivatu then crossed the line for the All Blacks first try and the onslaught came from the Kiwis, they threw everything at the Boks but they stood firm but at the end they could not keep out the relentless All Black as Carter put in a cross field kick which Richie McCaw gathered and dotted down in the corner. Carter converted and with only 1 minute to play they again attacked but to no avail. With This win the Springboks firmly cemented their number 1 position in world rugby adding the Tri Nations crown to their World Cup and series win over the British & Irish Lions.
