Spencer gives hope
Carlos Spencer former All Black flyhalf stood out shoulders above the rest of the players in the Lions last warm up matches before the start of the Super 14. The Lions lackluster performances only saw them narrowly beating the Leopards (38-30) and Pumas (24-17) in two games in a wet Witbank.
The outstanding player in a rather dull performance was the All Black flyhalf, Spencer. He kept the opposition on the back foot with his impressive ball distribution skills and cross kicks. The Lions again started where they left of last year by creating many opportunities but lacking the skill to complete the plays. The only other player deserving a mention is inside centre Doppies le Grange who again put in a solid performance.
