The Bulls have secured the services of Dewald Potgieter for a further two years this week.
The 23-year-old made his debut for the Springboks at the end of last season and has been instrumental in the Bulls’ roadto the semi-finals of the Super 14.
Potgieter has been at Loftus Versfeld since leaving school in 2006 and is looking forward to playing a key part in the franchise’s ongoing success having pledged his future until 2013.
“I am very happy where I am,” he said. “In terms of the bigger picture, I gave myself until 2011 to make the Springboks side, after which I was planning to go overseas and play.
“After making the Springboks in 2009, I have adjusted my goals and am now looking forward to the challenge to try and establish myself at national level and by staying with the Bulls, it will give me the opportunity to try and do that.
“Some of the senior guys will move on after 2011 and some rebuilding will be needed to continue the legacy here.
“I would like to be around to help with that process.”
Coach Frans Ludeke has welcomed the news of his contract extension.
“Dewald is not only one of our internationals, he is also a fantastic leader, player and team man,” he said. “The future at the Bulls certainly will be bright if we continue with players of his calibre.”
