Botha Holyfield fight postponed
Kampala – A boxing promoter says a WBF title bout in Uganda between Evander Holyfield and Francois Botha has been postponed from January to late February.
Pro Box Promotions manager Eddie Bazira says the fight will be held on February 20 instead of the originally scheduled January 16 date to give the boxers and organisers more time to prepare.
Organisers predict a crowd of 80 000 fans at Kampala’s Nambole Stadium and a potentially big pay-per-view payout for the cash-strapped Holyfield, a former four-time world champion who has won only five of his last 12 contests.
The 47-year-old American has not fought since losing a points decision to Nikolai Valuev a year ago.
The South African Botha retained his WBF title by drawing with Pedro Carrion of Cuba in Germany in October.
