Vettel Ready To Take F1 Title

Sebastian Vettel has insisted that despite several setbacks this season he can take the F1 title for Red Bull Racing.

“I know how good we are,” Vettel told Auto Motor und Sport. “I will take the title. Someone who has the most pole positions must think that way.

In the latest mishap at the Belgian Grand Prix, Vettel lost control of his car and took McLaren’s Jenson Button out, striking a huge blow to both drivers’ prospects in the process.

Earlier in the year Vettel collided with team-mate Mark Webber in Istanbul, and has also lost points through mechanical problems.

In spite of this, Vettel remains in contention in the drivers’ championship – sitting just 31 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton – and in the Red Bull he has a car which has set the pace throughout the season.

“These 13 races have not run completely smoothly, but I’m only 31 points behind. Assuming we maintain our speed, we can catch up quickly.

“In the end, it makes you a better driver – but I’m also someone who can put things in the past and look ahead when the next morning comes.”
