Nedbank Golf Challenge Field

With some of the more known players heading for the Tiger Woods event Sun City has attracted some big names for the upcoming tournament in December.

According to the format in which players are invited the field should have looked as follow

Lucas Glover (US Open winner)

Stewart Cink (The Open Championship)

Yang Yong-eun (PGA Championship)

Angel Cabrera (The Masters)

Tiger Woods (Ranking)

Phil Michelson (Ranking)

Steve Stricker (Ranking)

Paul Casey (Ranking)

Lee Westwood (Ranking)

Padraig Harrington (Ranking)

Looking at this list you will see that a lot of players declined the opportunity to come and play in the Nedbank Challenge which is sad to see. Another sad thing is that only one South African actually qualified to play in the Nedbank Challlenge.

Sergio Garcia will also be a notable absentee this year but he is replaced by the new golfing sensation Rory Mciroy. I would rate this year field as average and not spectacular. South Africa wants to see the big names like Woods, Michelson, Harrington and Garcia.
