The Proteas revived their semi final hopes with a convincing win over New Zealand on Thursday. New Zealand set South Africa a decent target with Parnell being on the expensive side again, but destroying the New Zaland tail much to the delight of the packed SuperSport park in Centurion. Parnell figures reads 8-0-57-5, he also claimed the man of the match award for his efforts. South Africa’s batting got of to a shaky start with Greame Smith losing his wicket for only 7 runs.
Kallis got things back on track with a classy display of batting before Ab de Villiers put on a another display of his abilities. He scored a solid 70 of only 76 balls wich included 9 fours.
South Africa won the match with 53 balls remaining and 5 wickets still in the bag. This win has hopefully done some good for the players confidence as they face up to England on Sunday to assure their place in the semi finals.
