Choking again?
The Proteas Champions trophy campaign got of to a bad start after the got crushed in their first match against Sri Lanka at SuperSport park on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 320 one almost felt it would be a bridge to far to cross for South Africa seeing that they have not played much competitive cricket in recent months. The SA bowlers ultimately let the team down with their poor discipline in with Wayne Parnell going for 79 runs in his spell.
The match got stopped after rain started to fall and the Proteas on a mere 206 for seven, leaving South Africa well short of the revised Duckworth-Lewis total of 260. Sri Lanka won by 55 runs according to the rain-adjusted target. Hopefully the players can get their act together and lose the “Chokers” tag and do us proud.
